What are my transport options to and from Windrush?
So, you’ve decided to bring your pride and joy into storage with Windrush Car Storage, but aren’t sure how to get the vehicle to us. We’ve prepared this article as a concise guide to the various transportation options we can offer – either to bring your car into storage at our Central London or Cotswolds sites or to move it anywhere in the world, as needed.
Driven Collection & Deliveries – Central London
For those clients based in London (within the M25), Windrush are pleased to offer driven deliveries and collections, using our team of advanced driver trained and insured drivers. By prior appointment – (we generally ask 24 hours’ notice – one of the team can come to your home or place of work to collect your car, before driving it back to safe storage at our Central London car storage facility. The same is true of deliveries – if it makes your life easier, we can drive your vehicle to meet you wherever suits at a pre-arranged time, stopping for fuel on the way to save you time if that would help you. We charge for this service on an hourly basis, plus expenses.
UK Transport
Windrush Car Storage are pleased to offer the services of its own state-of-the-art single-vehicle fully enclosed transporter, which is towed by our own all-wheel drive vehicle and crewed by a dedicated member of staff. The fully insured transporter offers low level access for cars with limited ground clearance and is also equipped with a winch, for ease of loading. We can arrange collections and deliveries anywhere in the UK by prior appointment.
European Transport
Windrush maintain a comprehensive list of fully vetted (Windrush ISO 9001 approved supplier status) and insured third-party transport providers, so if you wish to transport your vehicle further afield, be it to Europe for a summer driving holiday or to the United States or the Middle East, we can arrange this for you and can manage the entire process from start to finish.
International Transport
In terms of international transport, your options include air-freight – which is potentially the quickest but also the costliest option – as well as sea-freight, either in a secure shipping container (which provides more protection for your vehicle) or simply driven onto the ship, on a ‘roll-on roll-off’ basis. In each case, the vehicle would be delivered to the air terminal or port from our storage facility by covered transporter, and we would be on hand to monitor your car’s journey and manage the process.
Import of vehicles to the UK from overseas
We also have considerable experience in liaising with third-party providers to arrange importation of vehicles to the UK from overseas, with a view to the vehicle remaining here long term. This can be a very time-consuming and complicated process and we are able to handle all aspects on your behalf.
