Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 Dates and Lineup

This year’s Goodwood theme is Horseless To Hybrid: Revolutions in Power, with the event on 11-14th July saluting the 130-year timeline of propulsion right up to the latest generation of EVs. It is a narrative that will inform the weekend’s festivities, from the action on the hill to exhibits in the Future Lab. Meanwhile, other Goodwood 2024 happenings include tributes for the late three-time F1 champion Niki Lauda, a nod to the British-based Shadow racing team that brought a mysterious glamour to Formula One in the ’70s, and a celebration of the German aces at Joest Racing who are synonymous with Le Mans silverware.

Add to that, the centenary of MG will be toasted by Goodwood 2024’s customary Central Feature sculpture in front of the main house. Created this year by British artist Gerry Judah, we’re expecting another showstopper, tipped to feature the highly anticipated MG Cyberster roadster previewed at last year’s event.

The world's most famous hill climb and more

Elsewhere, Goodwood 2024 will roll out the greatest hits that make this festival an essential date in the diary. As ever, the heart of the action is the gruelling 1.16-mile hill climb, with the world’s greatest marques and drivers scrambling to top the 39.08 second record set by Max Chilton two years ago in an electric McMurtry Spéirling.

Just as thrilling is the Forest Rally Stage that sees dream-spec WRC machines piloted by legends along a highly technical woodland course, and the Off-Road Arena that tests the limits of torque and traction while spinning up flumes of dirt. Goodwood is famous for letting spectators get up close and personal everywhere from the hill climb to the FOS Pit Lane. But for a still-more intimate look at the machinery, head for Electric Avenue and the Supercar Paddock – not to mention the Future Lab that might offer a glimpse of anything from autonomous tractors to flying cars.

At Windrush, our supercar storage team are regular attendees at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and we’ve picked up a few pearls of wisdom over the years. Here are our best tips for a winning weekend:

  • Arrive at the site early to get parked up in good time – and beat road closures
  • Block out a little time to investigate the manufacturer stands – it’s a great place to take the pulse of the sector and see what’s coming next
  • Take a tractor ride to reach the Forest Rally Stage without breaking sweat
  • Explore the cricket pitch to find some amazing trade stands: perfect for gifting or dropping hints for your own birthday
  • Be aware that many manufacturers have VIP lounges – to gain access some accept showing your car key (from the same brand)
  • Be sure to visit the Cartier Style Luxe lawns for some truly one-of-a-kind cars
  • Carve out a little elbow room in the upper paddock, where you can mingle with famous drivers and hear the cars being warmed up before each hill climb
  • We’d recommend parking in the dedicated supercar parking area, but even if you don’t, it’s well worth a look around for its countless rarities
  • If you’re taking the family, bring ear defenders for the kids – and while the Festival Of Speed tends to be sunny, a raincoat will protect you if we see a repeat of 2023
  • Allow plenty of time to leave – the car parks and surrounding roads will be busy
  • Watch out for speed cameras on the way home – the local police force get all the camera vans out for Goodwood weekend
  • Finally, local accommodation sells out fast. Book now to be in with any chance of finding a bed within 10 miles of Goodwood House
  • Day admission tickets sell out fast so it’s worth looking at hospitality packages, especially for the popular weekend days. It’s well worth it just for the prime trackside viewing, fantastic cuisine and unlimited drinks
