All buildings at Windrush Car Storage are purpose built with car storage in mind. These are sealed from the elements and dehumidified to a target relative humidity of 55%. This target environment means that any rusting will cease without over drying any wood or leather in the vehicle.
On entering Windrush Car Storage
- Vehicle given its own unique identity and keys are tagged.
- Vehicle is hand washed using best practise techniques; the two bucket technique, lambswool wash mitts, high quality shampoos and finally microfibre towel to hand dry.
- Underbonnet fluid levels and condition are inspected and topped up where nessesary.
- Tyre pressures are over inflated by 50% to reduce the effect of ‘flat spotting’ whilst the vehicle is stationary.
- Battery is connected to its own individual, automatic CTEK battery conditioner.
- Car cover applied to protect the paintwork.
- Drip tray slid beneath the vehicle to allow us to monitor any fluid loss.
- Storage environment is dehumidified to a target RH of 55%
- All vehicles in our care are comprehensively insured on our policy.
Daily
- Walk around checking the storage environment, security systems and dehumidifiers.
- Battery conditioner status inspected.
Every 14 days
- Vehicles are rolled forwards or backwards to rotate pressure points on the tyres and bearings to reduce the chance of ‘flat spotting’ these components.
- The drip tray inspected for any signs of fluid loss.
Every 60 days
- Fluid levels and tyre pressures are inspected.
- Vehicles are run to operating temperature and run on our internal rolling road to lightly exercise mechanical components such as the engine, clutch, gears, drive shafts and brakes.
- The engine temperature and oil pressure are monitored.
- Any ancillaries such as electric windows, mirrors, roofs, sunshine roofs and air conditioning are operated to lightly excersise with the aim of maintaining their condition.
- The vehicle is then returned to its parking bay and allowed to cool.
- Battery conditioner reconnected and car storage cover re-applied.
